Description

Municipality of Giffoni Sei Casali Flag

Yellow and red, with the arms of the town: the flag of Giffoni Sei Casali

This flag is divided down the middle: yellow on the left, red on the right. In the centre stands a red shield with a rampant gold griffin. A silver mural crown sits above the shield, and a wreath of laurel and oak, tied with a ribbon in the Italian tricolour, frames it from below. There is no text.

The griffin on red

Italian Wikipedia says that the arms and the gonfalone were granted by decree of the President of the Republic of 17 June 1975. The arms are «di rosso, al grifone d'oro», a gold griffin on red, with the ornaments of a comune. The gonfalone is a cloth divided yellow and red («partito di giallo e di rosso»), and araldicacivica.it records a flag of the same colours with the arms of the Comune in the centre, which is this flag.

Capitignano and the head of Janus

Italian Wikipedia tells that the hamlet of Capitignano arose when the Romans defeated the Picentini, and the inhabitants of the destroyed Picenza left the plain for the mountain slopes. They gathered around the temple of Jupiter built by Sulla, beside which were placed the heads of the statues of Janus and Juno. The larger hamlet seems to have taken its name from the effigy of Janus, Caput Jani.

Joined and made free again

From 1811 to 1860, under the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, the town belonged to the circondario of San Cipriano, and from 1860 to 1927 to its mandamento. In 1929 it was added to the comune of San Cipriano Picentino, and it regained its autonomy in 1944.

Sieti

The hamlet of Sieti keeps the original atmosphere of a medieval village.

Who chooses it

For anyone from Giffoni Sei Casali or from the Picentini valley, for those who live far away and carry their town with them, for the Comune, its offices and civic ceremonies, for schools, associations and clubs, for a restaurant, a shop or a business that wants to show where it belongs. We sew it to order, in the size and fabric you choose above, and you see the delivery date before you pay.
