Description

Municipality of Faleria Flag

Yellow and blue, with the arms of the town: the flag of Faleria

This flag is divided down the middle: yellow on the left, blue on the right. In the centre stands a shield with a warrior in ancient dress, a sword at his side, holding up a white bird in his raised hand. Above him is a light blue sky and below him a brown ground. A gold mural crown sits over the shield, and a wreath of laurel and oak, tied with a ribbon in the Italian tricolour, frames it.

The cloth and the statute

The site araldicacivica.it lists a flag of Faleria described as a cloth divided yellow and blue («drappo partito di giallo e di azzurro»), and the same description for its gonfalone. The Statute of the Comune says that the emblem of the Comune is the arms, and that its insignia in official ceremonies is the gonfalone carrying them.

From Stabla to Faleria

Italian Wikipedia says that the town was anciently called Stabla, then Stabbia or Stabia and finally Castrum Stabie. The present name has been in force since at least 1873. It lies about 40 kilometres from Rome, to the left of the Via Flaminia, in the valley of the Tiber.

The Anguillara and the Borghese

The town belonged to the Anguillara family until the seventeenth century, and their castle still stands in the town. On 25 June 1660 Stabia passed to Prince Borghese, who bought it for 110,000 scudi. The gates and the town walls were pulled down in 1900 for new urban needs.

Castel Paterno and the emperor

Not far from the town stand the remains of Castel Paterno, a castle whose history goes back to the eleventh century. According to Italian Wikipedia the Holy Roman Emperor Otto III ended his life there in 1002.

Who chooses it

For anyone from Faleria or from the Tiber valley north of Rome, for those who live far away and carry their town with them, for the Comune, its offices and civic ceremonies, for schools, associations and clubs, for a restaurant, a shop or a business that wants to show where it belongs. We sew it to order, in the size and fabric you choose above, and you see the delivery date before you pay.
