Description

Municipality of Chiaverano Flag

White and blue, with the arms of the town: the flag of Chiaverano

This flag is split down the middle: white on the hoist side, blue on the fly side. In the centre stands a blue shield with two crossed gold keys above a grey castle with two towers. A grey mural crown with a red lining sits above the shield, and two branches tied with a gold ribbon frame it from below.

The keys and the castle

Italian Wikipedia gives the blazon as a blue field with a two-towered castle, battlemented in the Guelph style, in silver brick, open and windowed in the colour of the field, with gold keys crossed in saltire at the top. It says the arms and the gonfalone were granted by decree of the President of the Republic of 16 January 1961, and that the gonfalone is a cloth split white and blue.

Canavese and the morainic hills

Chiaverano is a comune of the metropolitan city of Turin, in Piedmont, 7 km north of Ivrea, in the Canavese. It lies in the morainic zone of the Serra di Ivrea, between 237 and 792 m above sea level, and shares Lake Sirio with Ivrea. The Castello di San Giuseppe overlooks the lake.

History and carnival

An old document records the founding of Chiaverano in 1251. The village was a fief of the diocese of Ivrea, whose bishops carried the title Lords of Chiaverano. In the hamlet of Bienca the carnival of the tomini is held.

Who chooses it

For anyone from Chiaverano or from the Canavese, for those who live far away and carry their village with them, for the Comune, its offices and civic ceremonies, for schools, associations and clubs, for a restaurant, a shop or a business that wants to show where it belongs. We sew it to order, in the size and fabric you choose above, and you see the delivery date before you pay.
