Description

Municipality of Castel Rozzone Flag

Blue over red, with the arms of the comune: the flag of Castel Rozzone

This flag is divided horizontally: dark blue above, red below. Across the top, in an arch of silver-grey capitals, runs «COMUNE DI CASTEL ROZZONE». In the centre is a gold shield with a red brick tower standing on blue water, with two small shields on its wall. A silver mural crown sits above the shield, and a wreath of laurel and oak, tied with a ribbon in the Italian tricolour, frames it.

The tower on the water

Italian Wikipedia says the arms were granted by decree of 25 February 1983, and the Statute adds that the gonfalone is shown in the form authorised by that same decree. The tower recalls the one that belonged to the walls that existed in the Middle Ages; on it are the arms of the local feudal families, the Rozzoni and the Visconti Aimi. The watercourse recalls the many irrigation canals, called «roson» or «rossa grande» in the local dialect, from which the name of the comune comes. Araldicacivica blazons it as a gold field with a red tower, walled in black, closed, with Ghibelline battlements, founded on a watercourse.

Blue and red

According to Italian Wikipedia and Araldicacivica, the gonfalone is a cloth divided horizontally, blue above and red below («troncato di azzurro e di rosso»). This flag takes those colours, with the arms and the name.

The plain of Bergamo

Castel Rozzone is a comune in the province of Bergamo, in Lombardy. Italian Wikipedia places it on the Bergamo plain, about 15 kilometres south of the provincial capital, and says its origins go back to Roman times, along the road of the cattle drovers running south from Bergamo through Treviglio and Crema towards Piacenza. The parish church of San Bernardo Abate was authorised in 1523 and opened in 1544.

Who chooses it

For anyone from Castel Rozzone or the Bergamo plain, for those who live far away and carry their town with them, for the Comune, its offices and civic ceremonies, for schools, associations and clubs, for a restaurant, a shop or a business that wants to show where it belongs. We sew it to order, in the size and fabric you choose above, and you see the delivery date before you pay.
