Description

Municipality of Bracigliano Flag

White and red, with the arms of the comune: the flag of Bracigliano

This flag is split down the middle: white on the left, red on the right. Over the top runs the name «COMUNE DI BRACIGLIANO» in black capitals, curved in an arch. In the centre is a red shield with two green palm branches on the left, a silver lion beside them, and two rows of four silver discs along the bottom. A silver mural crown sits above the shield, and a wreath of laurel and oak, tied with a ribbon in the Italian tricolour, frames it.

The lion and the eight bezants

The Statute of the Comune of Bracigliano says the arms are as described in the decree of the President of the Republic of 13 February 1973. Araldicacivica gives the blazon: on red, a silver lion, with two palm branches in natural colours on the dexter side, and in the base eight silver bezants in a row of 4 and 4.

White and red

Araldicacivica records the gonfalone as a cloth divided white and red (the page lists no act for it that we can tie to the gonfalone). The name in black is an addition of this flag and is not part of that description.

The Irno valley

Bracigliano is a comune in the province of Salerno, in Campania. Italian Wikipedia says it is the last town of the province of Salerno in the direction of the north, in the Irno valley and the Agro nocerino sarnese, at 327 metres, ringed by Monte Faitaldo, Monte Piesco, Monte Salto and Monte Ariella. The mountain pastures of Salto were long the destination of shepherds from Bracigliano and neighbouring towns, and the name Salto comes from the Latin «saltus», a pass between two valleys.

Who chooses it

For anyone from Bracigliano or the Irno valley, for those who live far away and carry their town with them, for the Comune, its offices and civic ceremonies, for schools, associations and clubs, for a restaurant, a shop or a business that wants to show where it belongs. We sew it to order, in the size and fabric you choose above, and you see the delivery date before you pay.
