Description

Municipality of Bobbio Pellice Flag

Blue, with the arms of the comune: the flag of Bobbio Pellice

This flag is a plain blue field with the arms of Bobbio Pellice in the centre. The shield is sky blue and shows a grey obelisk standing between two trees, on green ground. A silver mural crown rises above it, and a wreath of laurel and oak, tied with a light-blue ribbon, surrounds it. There is no lettering.

The obelisk of Sibaud

Italian Wikipedia says the arms and the gonfalone of the Comune were granted by royal decree of 19 February 1930. The obelisk is the one in the hamlet of Sibaud, put up in 1889 to remember the place where, in the 17th century, the Waldensians led by Henri Arnaud pledged to keep together in unity and solidarity. Araldicacivica blazons the arms as a sky-coloured field with a silver obelisk between two laurel trees, all standing on grassy ground.

The gonfalone

According to Araldicacivica, the gonfalone is a blue cloth richly ornamented with silver embroidery and bearing the municipal arms. This flag takes that blue cloth and the arms.

At the head of the Pellice valley

Bobbio Pellice is a comune in the Metropolitan City of Turin, in Piedmont. Italian Wikipedia says it lies at the end of the Val Pellice, in the Waldensian valleys, and borders two French communes, Abriès and Ristolas, with which it is linked only by footpaths. It is also the place from which the Occitan settlers who founded Guardia Piemontese in Calabria set out.

Who chooses it

For anyone from Bobbio Pellice or the Waldensian valleys, for those who live far away and carry their town with them, for the Comune, its offices and civic ceremonies, for schools, associations and clubs, for a restaurant, a shop or a business that wants to show where it belongs. We sew it to order, in the size and fabric you choose above, and you see the delivery date before you pay.
