Description

City of Pordenone Flag

Red, white, red, with the arms of the city: the flag of Pordenone

This flag is made of three vertical bands of equal width: red, white, red. In the white band stands the shield of the city: red with a silver horizontal bar, a white stone gateway with open golden doors and a golden crown in each upper corner, and blue waves at the foot.

The arms of the city

Italian Wikipedia gives the blazon of Pordenone: red with a silver fess, the sea at the point, from which rises a gateway of natural stone, crenellated in the Guelph manner with three pieces, with open golden doors, flanked in each upper corner by a golden crown. It adds that the first arms are thought to have been granted by King Ottokar II of Bohemia, since they are very similar to others he granted to cities under his rule, though the page notes there is no documentary confirmation.

The flag and the gonfalone

According to Italian Wikipedia the flag of Pordenone is made of three vertical bands of equal size, white in the centre and red on the sides, substantially identical in shape and colour to the national flag of Peru. The gonfalone of the city carries the same arms on a red ground with a white central band.

A city since 1401

Pordenone, in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, holds the title of city, conceded on 16 February 1401 and officially reconfirmed on 7 January 1840. In 1291 Duke Albert I of Habsburg granted the town its first statute.

Who chooses it

For anyone from Pordenone or from Friuli, for those who live far away and carry their town with them, for the Comune, its offices and civic ceremonies, for schools, associations and clubs, for a restaurant, a shop, a guest house or a business that wants to show where it belongs. We sew it to order, in the size and fabric you choose above, and you see the delivery date before you pay.
