Description

City of Eboli Flag

White with a blue border, and the arms of the city: the flag of Eboli

This flag is a white field with a narrow blue border. In the centre stands the shield of the city under a golden city crown: a grey cloud with three red flames above, blue and silver waves in the middle, a red fire below. Two branches of laurel and oak, tied with a ribbon in the Italian tricolour, frame the shield. There is no text.

Arms and gonfalone of 1999

Italian Wikipedia says the arms and the gonfalone of Eboli were granted by decree of the President of the Republic of 21 April 1999. Araldica Civica notes that this came a few days after the decree of 8 April 1999 which gave the Comune the title of Città, so the arms carry the ornaments of a city.

Cloud, waves and fire

The blazon, quoted by Araldica Civica, reads: gold, with a silver cloud spread across supporting three red flames; below, azure with three silver wavy bands, then gold with a great red fire with seven small flames.

A white cloth with a blue border

The gonfalone is described as a white cloth with a diminished blue border, richly embroidered in gold and carrying the arms with a gold inscription of the name of the Comune. This flag follows the white and blue of that cloth, without the inscription.

The Prince of Eboli

Araldica Civica recalls that Philip II of Spain chose Eboli as the seat of the principality of his Secretary of State, Ruy Gómez de Silva, who became Prince of Eboli. His wife, Ana de Mendoza, as Princess of Eboli, became a legendary figure, and today the city is twinned with Pastrana, in Spain.

Who chooses it

For anyone from Eboli or from the Piana del Sele, for those who live far away and carry their city with them, for the Comune, its offices and civic ceremonies, for schools, associations and clubs, for fans of the city's teams, for a restaurant, a shop or a business that wants to show where it belongs. We sew it to order, in the size and fabric you choose above, and you see the delivery date before you pay.
