Description

Province of Turin Flag

White with a blue border, with the arms of the province: the flag of Turin

This flag is white with a wide blue border. In the centre stands a red shield with a white cross, and above the cross a blue label with three points, under the golden Italian provincial crown with an oak branch on the left and a laurel branch on the right.

A red shield, a white cross and a blue label

Italian Wikipedia describes the arms as: red, a silver cross, differenced by a blue label of three points. They were recognised by decree of 20 May 1930. They come from the arms of the House of Savoy, differenced for the Prince of Piedmont, a title dating back to 1424; Flags of the World explains that the blue label marks the eldest son of the Duke of Savoy.

The flag of the province

According to Italian Wikipedia the flag of the province is a white cloth bordered in Savoy blue, with the provincial arms in the centre. Flags of the World adds that in the 1990s, when provincial governments found a gonfalone was not enough, the Province began to display it, that it is not officially approved, and that it replaced an all-blue flag with the arms on the occasion of the XX Olympic Winter Games.

From province to metropolitan city

The Province of Turin was set up in 1847 and abolished on 31 December 2014. It was replaced in 2015 by the Metropolitan City of Turin, which has its own gonfalone and kept on it the Gold Medal for Civil Merit awarded in 2005 to the province for the Resistance.

Who chooses it

For anyone from the Turin area and Piedmont, for the comuni and offices of the former province, for those who live far away and carry their land with them, for schools, associations and clubs, for a restaurant, a shop or a business that wants to show where it belongs. We sew it to order, in the size and fabric you choose above, and you see the delivery date before you pay.
