Description

Municipality of Roviano Flag

White, with the arms of the town: the flag of Roviano

This flag is plain white. In the centre stands a blue shield with a silver Tuscan column topped by a gold ancient crown, under a silver mural crown. A wreath of laurel and oak, tied with a ribbon in the Italian tricolour, frames the shield.

The column and the crown

Italian Wikipedia says the arms were recognised by ministerial decree of 10 April 1890 and show, on a blue field, a silver Tuscan column surmounted by an ancient crown in gold. The gonfalone of the Comune is a white cloth.

On the Via Valeria

Roviano is a comune in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in Lazio, perched on a hill above the upper Aniene valley, close to the border with Abruzzo. The Roman Via Valeria runs through its territory, and Italian Wikipedia places here the Roman station of Ad Lamnas, which also appears on the Tabula Peutingeriana. The Ponte Scutonico, dating from the Republican period and restored by the emperor Nerva in 97 AD, carries the Via Valeria over the Aniene.

From the abbey of Subiaco to the Colonna

From the 9th to the 12th century Roviano belonged to the abbey of Subiaco; by the end of the 14th century it was a fief of the Colonna family. The castle was bought by the Comune in 1979. Among the sights, Porta Scaramuccia dates from the second half of the 14th century and takes its name from a skirmish with the people of Arsoli over some springs.

Who chooses it

For anyone from Roviano or from the upper Aniene valley, for those who live far away and carry their place with them, for the Comune, its offices and civic ceremonies, for schools, associations and clubs, for a restaurant, a shop or a business that wants to show where it belongs. We sew it to order, in the size and fabric you choose above, and you see the delivery date before you pay.
