Description

Municipality of Sant'Angelo a Fasanella Flag

White, with the arms of the town: the flag of Sant'Angelo a Fasanella

This flag is a plain white field. In the centre stands a grey mural crown over a blue shield. On it the archangel Michael, with silver wings, a red cloak and red boots, holds a cross-topped staff in his right hand and a red oval shield on his left arm, and tramples a black devil. Branches of laurel and oak tied with a tricolour ribbon frame the shield.

The arms, described

Italian Wikipedia says the arms were granted by decree of the President of the Republic of 13 January 1994. On a blue ground is the archangel Michael with silver wings, red mantle and buskins, holding in his left hand a red oval shield bearing a silver pheasant and in his right a lance ending in a small cross, with which he pierces the black devil. The page says the pheasant stands for the old hamlet of Sant'Angelo, whose union with the destroyed town of Fasanella gave the comune its name.

A red gonfalone

According to the same page, the gonfalone is a red cloth. This listing shows the arms on white.

The Alburni and the cave of Saint Michael

Sant'Angelo a Fasanella is a comune in the province of Salerno, in Campania, in the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park. It is known for the Antece, a life-size figure of a warrior carved into the rock, attributed to the fifth or fourth century BC, and for a rock church, the cave of Saint Michael the Archangel.

Who chooses it

For anyone from Sant'Angelo a Fasanella or with roots in the Alburni, for those who live far away and carry their town with them, for the Comune, its offices and civic ceremonies, for schools, associations and clubs, for a restaurant, a shop or a business that wants to show where it belongs. We sew it to order, in the size and fabric you choose above, and you see the delivery date before you pay.
