Description

Municipality of Borgorose Flag

Red and blue, with a gold tower: the flag of Borgorose

This flag is split down the middle: red at the hoist, blue at the fly, the two colours of the gonfalone. In the centre stands a shield with a gold border and a gold tower with black windows and a gate, set over three diagonal bands: blue at the top right, white in the middle and red at the bottom left. A grey mural crown sits above it, and a wreath of laurel and oak tied with a tricolour ribbon frames it.

What the Statute says

The Statute of the Comune of Borgorose describes the arms as a shield with golden borders and a golden brick tower with black windows, set over three diagonal bands: red at the bottom left, white in the centre and blue at the top right. Below the shield are two branches, laurel on the left and oak on the right, tied with a tricolour ribbon, and a crown with a rim of battlements above.

Three villages, one tower

Italian Wikipedia says the Comune freely uses a shield divided into bands of azure, silver and red, symbols of its three main centres, Borgorose, Corvaro and Torano, crossed by a gold tower that refers to the Torre di Torano and the Rocca di Corvaro. The gonfalone in use is a cloth divided red and blue.

In the Cicolano

Borgorose is in the valley of the Salto, in the Cicolano, in the province of Rieti, in Lazio, on the border with Abruzzo. Italian Wikipedia says it was called Borgocollefegato until 1960 and was part of the province of L'Aquila until 1927.

Who chooses it

For anyone from Borgorose, Corvaro or Torano, or with roots in the Cicolano, for those who live far away and carry their town with them, for the Comune, its offices and civic ceremonies, for schools, associations and clubs, for a farm, a restaurant or a shop that wants to show where it belongs. We sew it to order, in the size and fabric you choose above, and you see the delivery date before you pay.
