Description

Municipality of Campagnatico Flag

Light blue, with a bell between two stars: the flag of Campagnatico

This flag is a plain light-blue field. In the centre stands a shield with a golden bell hanging from a beam between two gold stars, under a grey mural crown with a red lining. A wreath of laurel and oak tied with a tricolour ribbon frames the shield.

What the Statute says

The Statute of the Comune of Campagnatico says the arms were granted by decree of the President of the Republic of 11 August 1968: azure, with a bronze bell hung with two ropes from a wooden beam, accompanied on the right and left by two gold stars, with the outer ornaments of a comune. The gonfalone, granted by the same decree, is an azure cloth richly adorned with silver embroidery, bearing the arms and the silver inscription «Comune di Campagnatico».

From the Aldobrandeschi to Siena

Italian Wikipedia says the settlement began as a possession of the Abbey of San Salvatore on Monte Amiata and passed to the Aldobrandeschi, to whom it belonged in 973. After the killing of Omberto Aldobrandeschi in 1259, mentioned by Dante in the Divine Comedy, the castle passed to the Comune of Siena, and with Siena it became part of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany in the middle of the sixteenth century.

In the Maremma

Campagnatico is in the province of Grosseto, in Tuscany, around the last stretch of the Ombrone valley, where it opens towards the Maremma plain.

Who chooses it

For anyone from Campagnatico, Montorsaio or Arcille, or with roots in the Maremma, for those who live far away and carry their town with them, for the Comune, its offices and civic ceremonies, for schools, associations and clubs, for a farm, a restaurant or a shop that wants to show where it belongs. We sew it to order, in the size and fabric you choose above, and you see the delivery date before you pay.
